Despite a comment from Coach Jeff Mercer on Tuesday about RHP Cole Gilley being "tight" he has been submitted as the Sunday starter for today's rubber match in Happy Valley. Indiana has a rested bullpen with key relievers Drew Buhr and Anthony Gubitosi yet to see action in this series as both prior games were well decided in early innings.

Penn State will counter with sophomore lefty Matt Morash. Morash has a matching 13.8% walk and strikeout rate and a 2.00 WHIP. Indiana will need to be selective, try to draw walks, and not expand the zone on sliders down and away. Lefty starters have been a problem for the very left handed Hoosier lineup so far this season (5 left, 3 right, 1 switch). Opoonents are hitting .333 against him. Morash threw 32 innings last year as a freshman and his results are roughly similar year to year so far.

The best WHIP (1.17) avaialble out of Penn State's bullpen is also a lefty, Anthony Steele who last tossed 20 pitches in the mid-week. RHP Dimond Loosli is likely to pitch some today. He had 2 innings last Sunday. His WHIP is 1.67 on the season.

Cerny gets a 1-out single that was almost caught in centerfield, but is thrown out trying to steal. On replay it looked like he just got in under the tag, but Jeff Mercer and company did not elect to go with review. Morash faces the minimum.

Weird series of events. 0-2 Gilley gets hit with a pitch clock violation and then serves up a pitch that goes to the warning track in left. Taylor seemed to give up on it, think it was gone, but makes the catch at the last minute for the first out.

Cerny pops up to second base stranding them loaded. A huge missed opportunity in a tied game. Hoosiers continue to struggle in close games. Despite outhitting Penn State 9-3, the Hoosiers do not have a lead and Penn State has an extra inning to play with.

Devin Taylor inexplicably calls off Tyler Cerny on a fly ball and drops it in a dive. Dickerson was coming straight it, not sure why he didn't have. A complete execution break-down and now the Hoosiers are staring down a series loss with a game they are still doubling the other team up in hits. One team is executing today, and it is not Indiana.

LHP Anthony Gubitosi is in to pitch for IU in hopes of giving the Hoosier bats a chance in the 9th, but 3 runs feels tough in a game where every run has to be scrapped for and Penn State is not making any execution mistakes.

Now Penn State really gets their bats going. Benes isn't fooling anyone giving up an RBI double. Indiana turns it over to Matthew Bohnert who has no no success yet on the season.
