RBI infield single makes it 8 runs. Julian Tonghini can't seem to get outs now, but he has to wear it as the Hoosiers will need to save arms for the later game in hopes of salvaging the series.

Minnesota has finally matched the Hoosier's four hits. The Gophers are making them count though as two walks and fielder's choice without an out score on two RBI doubles. Gophers are up 7 and it feels like this one is pulling away.

Freshman lefty Ryan Rushing is the new Hoosier pitcher as Rybarczyk got 7 strikeouts but still allowed two costly home runs.

Wietgrefe has completely settled in getting soft contact outs and under 70 pitches after 4 innings when capable of getting up in the 120 pitch range. Hoosier hitters need to adjust soon.

Minnesota gets a runner on base via walk and Weber Neels takes him deep a second time in the day with first base open and now Minnesota is up by three runs. Rybarczyk continues to rack of strikeouts but has allowed three runs in three innings on three hits.

Indiana has now left 5 runners in SCORING POSITION after three inning with no runs scored. Wietgrefe now at just 60 pitches, so may be able to go deep now. This was not what Indiana wanted offensively if the goal was to win two today.

Jasen Oliver and Carter Mathison add a pair of two-out hits, but both are stranded in scoring position when a well hit ball of the bat of Josh Pyne is caught on the left field warning track. Hoosiers have stranded 5 in the first two inning. Wietgrefe only need 15 pitches to get through that inning.

Ty Rybarczyk gets ahead 0-2 on the first three batters. The first two strikeout but the third takes Rybarczyk deep for a solo home run. Really making the failures in the top of the inning shine as the Hoosiers start this game at a deficit. Rybarczyk makes it three K's to end the ending. As this staff says, solo shots don't kill you.

Bases loaded and nobody out produces no runs for the Hoosiers. Tyler Cerny did eat 9 pitches before striking out. Devin Taylor pop-ed up shallow and Joey Brenczewski went down on strikes. While the pitch count run was nice, given the situation the Hoosiers find themselves, that was a huge missed opportunity in a game they need to win if they want to stay in both the B1G title hunt and NCAA at-large consideration.

The big reason Carter Mathison is a lead-off hitter is his ability to draw walks. He draws a 6-pitch walk to open this one against Minnesota's best starter.
