Seti Manase is the new Hoosier pitcher. Mercer was pleased with Manase's outing on Friday. He has a fastball, a splitter, and a slider. The splitter and slider were both working for him. Manase commands the zone, but has a tendency to be seen and hit well.

A 1-1 92 mph fastball is taking the other way for a double. Colopy hits the cutoff man and there is a close play at the plate, but the curse of the two out runs is impacting the Hoosiers again. A flyout ends the inning with four runs. Less than prior crooked numbers, but still not how Indiana wanted to start this game.

This is a key moment for the Hoosiers. With three runs already crossed in this inning, Indiana has really struggled to get that third out and get the offense a chance to cut into the lead.

Illinois right-handed sophomore Jake Swartz has started three games this season, appeared in two as a reliever, for a total of 21 innings pitched. Swartz has a 1.29 WHIP driven by not giving up many free passes with just a 6.7% walk rate. He strikes out batters at a 16.9% clip.
