Indiana at no. 11 North Carolina

The pitching matchup is set for the season opener. Hoosiers will start with lefty Mizzou transfer Tony Neubeck and the host will throw righty Jason DeCaro. DeCaro made the pre-season Golden Spikes watch list and is expected to go early in the coming draft.

DeCaro has an array of multiple pitches with the tone set by a fastball that can touch the mid-90's and has ride. He commands the assortment well.

Neubeck has SEC starting experience and is fully healthy after a very long recovery from surgery that hasn't seen him log a full season since 2023. Neubeck is also a multiple pitch guy with low-90s fastball, slider, curve, and change.

Hogan Denny draws a 1-out walk from Jason DeCaro. Denny got back picked by the catcher. The others went down on looking strikeouts. DeCaro has gone up a tick, touch 96 in a fastball heavy mix. Stewart struck out on what looked like a curveball.

A meltdown inning is just piling on. Cooper Malamazian lets the lead off guy on with an error pulling up on a ground ball too soon. A walk and a hit by pitch loaded the bases. Then a wild pitch scored one and Decker loses a ball in lights. Two more hits put UNC up big.
