This my first in-person look at the Bart since the new turf has been installed. Getting a close look, it seems that this turf will still play relatively fast. Compared to what I saw at Illinois in the spring this turf looks to have shorter blades than what they had in Champaign.

Thomas gives up a pair of one-out singles. He got into a few hitters counts, but had a nice assortment on display, getting swing and miss on both a back foot slider and a 91mph fastball to end the inning with a strikeout and strand both runners.

Carrera throws another 1-2-3 inning. He was behind 3-1 to the Xavier catcher and came back with a pair of low-90s fastballs to get a looking strikeout.
Getting a freshman seriously in the pitching mix for 2026 would be a huge step up for this Indiana pitching staff.
