Devin Taylor singles. Korbyn Dickerson watches a 1-2 pitch in the opposite batter's box called strike three. Will Moore and Jake Hanley also struck out. Taylor is stranded.

Solid start for Ben Grable. A three-pitch strikeout, a flyout, and another strikeout equals a 1-2-3 inning.

Hogan Denny gets a bloop single but is erased on the first pitch to Tyler Cerny who grounds into a double play. Cooper Malamazian strikes out for the sixth time this weekend (though he does also have three hits). A very quick, stress-free inning for the Iowa starter.
entry by Carl - April 27, 2025, 2:22 p.m.:
Grable opens up the second like the first with a three-pitch strikeout.
entry by Carl - April 27, 2025, 2:24 p.m.:
A severe outfield shift to the opposite field is pulled for a double. It definitely would have been at most a single with normal positioning, may have been a flyout.
Team Totals:
Hoosiers: 0 runs | 2 hits | 0 errors
Hawkeyes: 1 runs | 2 hits | 0 errors
entry by Carl - April 27, 2025, 2:25 p.m.:
An RBI-single gives Iowa an early lead.
entry by Carl - April 27, 2025, 2:29 p.m.:
Grable gets ahead 0-2, and then throws two uncompetitive pitches and then fills the count up. This has been a recurring issue for Indiana pitching. Grable does complete the strikeout, but burned a lot more pitches than the Hoosiers would like.
Team Totals:
Hoosiers: 0 runs | 2 hits | 0 errors
Hawkeyes: 3 runs | 3 hits | 0 errors
entry by Carl - April 27, 2025, 2:32 p.m.:
Another full count comes back to burn Grable. A 3-2 fastball down the middle is launched over the left field fence.

Hawkeyes: 3 runs | 3 hits | 0 errors

A groundout ends the inning, but the damage is done. Hoosiers in a big hole early.
entry by Carl - April 27, 2025, 2:37 p.m.:
It's been a while since I've typed this...
[CTRL + V] Andrew Wiggins draws a walk.
It's a lead-off 7-pitch walk.
entry by Carl - April 27, 2025, 2:38 p.m.:
And just like that another double play ball erases the baserunner. Two erased the first time thorugh the order.
Team Totals:
Hoosiers: 0 runs | 2 hits | 0 errors
Hawkeyes: 3 runs | 3 hits | 0 errors
entry by Carl - April 27, 2025, 2:40 p.m.:
Again, despite a baserunner, Iowa faces the minimum. IU on base at a .300 clip so far, but nothing to show for it.
entry by Carl - April 27, 2025, 2:53 p.m.:
A one-out double, and a walk, is followed up with a chopper right at the six hole, but Malamazian was shifted too far from it. It's been a different animal from Friday when Indiana defenders seemed uncannily well shifted. Bases are juiced.
Team Totals:
Hoosiers: 0 runs | 2 hits | 0 errors
Hawkeyes: 4 runs | 5 hits | 0 errors
entry by Carl - April 27, 2025, 2:54 p.m.:
Grable walks in a run. Hoosiers have no activity in the bullpen. This will be Grable's to wear at 65 pitches.

Hawkeyes: 6 runs | 6 hits | 0 errors
entry by Carl - April 27, 2025, 2:59 p.m.:
Indiana looked to be out of it on a back-pick. Jake Hanley wanted a review, but Jeff Mercer won't call for it. Then a ground-rule double plates another run.

Hawkeyes: 6 runs | 6 hits | 0 errors
entry by Carl - April 27, 2025, 3 p.m.:

Hawkeyes: 6 runs | 6 hits | 1 errors
entry by Carl - April 27, 2025, 3:10 p.m.:

Hawkeyes: 6 runs | 6 hits | 0 errors
entry by Carl - April 27, 2025, 3:17 p.m.:
Grable settles in for a 1-2-3 inning. At 95 pitches he has a ful workload in, which I imagine the staff wanted for him.

entry by Carl - April 27, 2025, 3:26 p.m.:

Yarberry makes it five straight retired, before giving up a two-out solo home run.
entry by Carl - April 27, 2025, 3:49 p.m.:
Yarberry then follows up the homer with a full-count walk.

Hoosiers: 0 runs | 3 hits | 1 errors
Hawkeyes: 10 runs | 8 hits | 1 errors

The error is costly as Yarberry falls behind and gives up a three-run homer. The run-rule is in play yet again.
entry by Carl - April 27, 2025, 3:55 p.m.:
Drew Buhr was supposed to pitch this game as part of his recovery. now the Hoosiers must score a run in the top of the 7th to even make that possible. This has been a disaster of a weekend for Indiana.
Team Totals:
Hoosiers: 0 runs | 3 hits | 1 errors
Hawkeyes: 10 runs | 8 hits | 1 errors
entry by Carl - April 27, 2025, 4:02 p.m.:
Hoosiers go down 1-2-3 and end the game in a less than two hours run rule. Iowa absolutely dominates Indiana on the weekend getting a series sweep. Indiana falls to 12-12 in B1G play.
